My Personal Feeling about That Man is You or TMIY   — Gene Schroeder

Hello! I am Gene Schroeder a lifetime Berlinite.  Thank you Father David for allowing us to talk at the masses in behalf of That Man is You or TMIY as it is called.

It all started for me, when I signed up for TMIY at the Church Picnic in 2016.  I attended a few sessions and had a hard time listening to the speaker. He had several good points, but for me he talked a little too fast and I had a hard time following him.  When my hunting farm started up I didn’t make any effort to attend more sessions. However, when my farm slowed down in February, I came back to TMIY. I still had some issues with following the speaker, but all the smiling faces you see when you arrive between 5:30 and 6:00 a.m. make up for that.  The bonus is, fresh grapes, bananas, sweet rolls, bagels, ice cream with oatmeal, juice and great coffee.

All together we say a few prayers.  Now instead of having the same speaker at each session, we have different ones for most of the sessions.  We do have some great presenters and some just “okay” presenters. This coming year we will have 10 different speakers for the fall session.  

The best time for me is when we break into our small discussion groups.  It is like a bonding that is hard to explain. We discuss topics that center around church, family, and how we can become better role models.  I know through my own personal experience, I pray more, read books centered on Christ and the Bible. This, hopefully, is helping me become a better disciple of Christ.  I say the Rosary more in the car, especially if my wife is driving.

Why would 60 people of all ages want to get together every Wednesday, that early in the morning?  It is more than just the food. It is a very special time set aside to focus on our lives and God!  I understand that some cannot make it because of work. Please keep in mind that you do not have to attend every session.  If you have a chance to attend, give it a shot. You may get hooked on TMIY just like myself and the other dedicated men that attend.

For those who attended regularly last year, you are already registered for this coming year.  However, for the rest of the men in the parish you can register after mass at the table in back of the gathering space.  All we need is your name and email address and you’re welcome to enjoy a breakfast and fellowship. We begin our first session this coming Wednesday Morning, September 18th at 5:30 a.m.  

For those who are regulars, please consider asking your friend, relatives, or neighbors to join you.  They do not have to even be Catholics.
